Course Description
This lecture discusses the environmental response to geological activities and various geological disasters and their mitigation. After joining this course, students are required to be able to apply geological concepts to explain environmental phenomena and geological disasters. This course will be delivered in selfpaced online learning. This lecture is delivered in English.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, students are required to be able to apply (C3) geological concepts to explain environmental phenomena and geological disasters.
Learning Activities
The learning activities that will be conducted in this course consist of:
- Display: watching and listening to interactive videos that contain explanations of the learning topics. The videos will be equipped with short quizzes to measure students’ understanding of the topics.
- Read: reading the course materials that are followed by a quiz.
- Reflects: make a reflection at the end of each session to make sure the students understand what they learn after that session.
- Do: make one video using simple props to explain one of the geological hazards to other people
Assessment Strategies
The assessment that will be used in this course are formative 3 assessment:
- Quiz: to assess the understanding of the students after watching several videos and course material.
- Peer assessment: to assess the video project that will be collected as a final assignment. The students will receive a criteria assessment rubric to help them assess the videos.
